Health actuarial summer internship with Milliman’s Minneapolis Health and Life practice, based in Eden Prairie/Minneapolis with flexible remote or office arrangements. Over approximately three months, you’ll support health and long-term care insurance projects involving data analysis, actuarial modelling, and predictive modelling for consulting clients.

Requirements

Must have

  • Minimum current GPA of 3.0
  • Pursuing a degree in actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, or related field

Strongly preferred

  • Preference to candidates with a GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills, with ability to express complex technical concepts verbally and in writing to diverse audiences
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to learn existing processes quickly
  • Ability to apply knowledge and concepts to a variety of different tasks
  • Strong organizational abilities and time-management skills

Nice to have

  • Passed at least one actuarial exam
  • Experience with healthcare or health data
  • Working knowledge with database applications such as Access, VBA
  • Computer and statistical programming experience (SAS, Python, and/or R)
  • Experience with cloud computing
