Primary Purpose of the Position:

This position is assigned to Actuarial Services Division and provides technical support to the Chief Actuary and the Company Services Group. In addition, this position will assist in actuarial reviews of the rate bureau filings. The Actuarial Analyst will assist with devising and conducting special studies on important issues affecting P&C insurance and perform special technical projects under the guidance of the Chief Actuary and senior actuaries. These special studies would include data calls and reserve reviews for both traditional insurance companies and risk retention groups.

  • Basic knowledge in general principles of insurance and actuarial science.
  • Basic knowledge of North Carolina laws and regulations as they relate to actuarial practice.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex information verbally and in writing. Keeps coworkers and managers informed of project progress by preparing written reports that are clear, concise, appropriate for intended audience and well documented.
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access. Knowledge of R is preferred.
  • Candidates are expected to pursue membership in the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS).

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in accounting, banking, finance, business administration, economics, or a related discipline from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
