Closer to a modelling and analytics IC role than a reserving-cycle specialist because the scope spans pricing, forecasting, risk adjustment, and operational data.

Entry-level Health Actuarial Analyst role in Washington, DC, supporting Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and ACO value-based care analytics. You’ll contribute to pricing, IBNR, forecasting, risk adjustment, monthly reporting, and contract performance analysis while working with large claims, encounter, and enrollment datasets.

Requirements

Strongly preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
  • 1-2 years of actuarial, healthcare analytics, or related experience
  • Actively pursuing actuarial exams (progress toward ASA credential)
  • Exposure to key actuarial functions such as IBNR, pricing, forecasting, or trend analysis
  • Interest in or exposure to Medicare, Medicaid, or CMS ACO models (MSSP / REACH)
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice to have

  • Internship experience in health insurance or actuarial consulting
  • Familiarity with SQL, SAS, or Python
  • Exposure to claims data (DRG/HCPCS/episode groupers) and risk adjustment models (HCC/RAF)
  • Ability to help translate financial and healthcare data into clear, actionable insights
  • High attention to detail and eagerness to learn
  • Self-motivated, with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work both independently on well-defined tasks and collaboratively within a team
