Coverys is looking for an Actuarial Analyst to join our Pricing & Analytics team! The Actuarial Analyst will analyze insurance premium, claim and exposure information in developing actuarial analyses.  They will also provide analyses and commentary to our internal and external customers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepares premium, claim and exposure data for actuarial analysis

• Prepares analyses, including commentary, for lines of business and states as required

• Identifies data issues and collaborates with external customers to resolve issues

• Documents and communicates assumptions and results to internal and external clients

• Analyzes internal, competitor, and industry data to determine loss trend, exposure trend, increased limit factors, and loss development factors

• Achieves progress toward actuarial accreditation through successful completion of actuarial exams

• Functional responsibilities may include:

  • Analyzing loss and loss expense reserves

  • Analyzing unearned premium reserves and earnings patterns

  • Supporting the production of financial statements, forecasts and budget loss ratio assumptions

  • Developing rate indications, evaluating pricing and segmentation

  • Supporting large account pricing

  • Evaluating profitability

Education, Experience, Competencies & Values

• Bachelor's degree with a background in science, programming, mathematics, economics, or a related field

• At least two years of related experience

• Minimum of two completed actuarial exams with a passing score; property and casualty exam track required

• Experience with R, SQL, SAS, VBA, or Python

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Strong interpersonal skills

• Ability to interpret and analyze various types of data

Salary range is $78,000 - $106,000 annually. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors that are unique to each candidate including location, skill set, experience, qualifications and education.
