National Insurance Actuarial is looking for an Actuarial Analyst responsible for producing high quality Reserving analyses in support of our General Liability business. This position will also develop prospective loss ratios to support the financial plan for General Liability. Effective communication of all assumptions, methods, trends and risk throughout the organization is also critical for this role.

As such, the successful candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to execute thoroughly in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed reserve estimates for the Commercial General Liability in a timely manner
  • Present selections quarterly to senior management throughout Actuarial & Finance
  • Recognize internal and external changes that influence unpaid loss estimates, and incorporate into analyses
  • Effectively document assumptions and highlight ranges and sources of risk
  • Build strong relationships and collaborate closely with Claims, Finance, and Information Management.
  • Prepare analyses to support the financial plan for GL
  • Assist in various internal and external reporting requirements
  • Build and implement process improvement initiatives in collaboration with other line of business teams and cross-functional stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Proven math and analytical skills, as normally acquired through the pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or related field.
  • Commitment to achieving Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society.
  • Passing grades on a minimum of 2 Casualty Actuarial Exams is required.
  • Minimum 2-4 years relevant experience required.
  • Prior experience and knowledge of basic actuarial techniques and standards and insurance operations.
  • Solid oral and written and presentation communication skills.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and apply independent judgment and critical thinking skills in execution of assignments.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects with some direction.
  • Intermediate MS Office Excel and SAS skills
  • Ability to build simple models; Programming skills are desirable.
