The mission of the Actuarial Student Program is to grow actuarial knowledge, business acumen and leadership skills in our Actuaries to enable the achievement of organizational goals. Actuarial students are expected to progress through the levels of the job family based on academic/exam achievements and by developing their analytical skills, independent decision making, and effective communication and leadership skills.

Key Elements of Position

We are seeking an aspiring actuary to join our Asset Modeling team. In this critical role, you will support the team by delivering and effectively communicating model results. Expect to rotate roles approximately every 2–3 years within our four distinct product lines (each supported by an actuarial team) and our corporate actuarial department. This program offers a wealth of options to expand your actuarial skills and knowledge throughout your career at The Standard.

  • Programming skills: Some proficiency in programming languages such as Python or VBA.
  • Work Authorization: Must be a U.S. citizen or have work authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship (these roles are not sponsorship eligible).

Qualifications Desired

  • Experience: Actuarial internship experience modeling in GGY AXIS and/or programming in Python.
  • Collaboration: Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge: A basic understanding of financial assets and life insurance products.
