The Standard seeks a talented, experienced actuary with strong actuarial modeling expertise to join our AMG Modeling team, focusing on Retirement Plan modeling. You will be involved in developing and maintaining modeling solutions in support of company initiatives. You will leverage your skillful relationship management as you partner with key internal stakeholders and product line leaders.  You’ll be involved in evaluating and implementing new approaches and processes for our modeling effort as we challenge ourselves to consider new methods through our Actuarial Transformation program. 

Acceptance to a position in this job family constitutes participation in the Actuarial Student Program at The Standard.  The mission of the Actuarial Student Program is to grow actuarial knowledge, business acumen and leadership skills in our Actuaries to enable the achievement of organizational goals.  Actuarial students are expected to progress through the levels of the job family based on academic/exam achievements and by developing their analytical skills, independent decision making, and effective communication and leadership skills.

Areas of focus for you will include:

  • Assist in the development analysis and model change management of models used in analyzing ALM, Embedded Value, Cash Flow Testing, Economic Capital, Risk Management, Cash Flow Testing, etc.
  • Participate in developing models in GGY AXIS to perform and analyze results from Japan’s JFSA regulations for The Standard.
  • Work on other model development projects for Retirement Plan (RP) and Individual Annuity (IA), collaborating with product line SMEs to ERM team.
  • Be the key person for other new model/process onboarding plans.
  • Ensure projection models are timely and accurate, meeting necessary controls. 
  • Communicate projection model results to management to assist and influence corporate and divisional financial strategies.
  • Support our Actuarial Transformation initiative ensuring successful implementation of improved procedures and processes including our model orchestration platform.

Traits of a Successful Candidate


Education/Experience:

  • Experience with GGY AXIS required.
  • Experience with Python, VBA/Tableau, Power BI desired.
  • Retirement Plan or Individual Annuities experience preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in an actuarial role. ASA or near FSA.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in mathematics, actuarial science, business, or a related field preferred.

Please note - the salary range for this role is listed below. In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year. Employees also receive 11 paid holidays and 2 wellness days per year.

 

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.

Salary Range:

$88,250.00 - $129,500.00
