We are seeking an experienced actuary with expertise in personal lines filings and a strong strategic mindset. This role is responsible for overseeing filing indications across multiple lines of business and jurisdictions, ensuring analytical rigor, regulatory compliance, and alignment with broader company objectives. The ideal candidate brings a track record of independently managing complex projects, driving continuous improvement, and delivering creative solutions. Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of rate filing indications and supporting exhibits for all 11 states, including timely and thorough responses to Department of Insurance (DOI) objections
- Lines of business include: Personal Auto, Homeowners, Umbrella, Commercial Auto, Businessowners, Commercial Property and Liability
- Work closely with business partners to ensure filing timelines and regulatory requirements are met, acting as the Actuarial subject matter expert in this area
- Apply knowledge of various actuarial indication methodologies to support accurate and strategic decision-making
- Continuously seek opportunities to refine methodologies, streamline workflows, and enhance analytical accuracy
- Assist in the budgeting process as well as evaluating the impact of Reinsurance costs and terms on the indications
- Provide support to the broader actuarial team through:
- Reviewing work to ensure quality and consistency
- Conducting in-depth state-specific analyses
- Leading or participating in long-term, cross-functional projects
Experience/Qualifications
- 7+ years of relevant experience in the P&C industry
- ACAS or FCAS (preferred)
- 3+ year of personal lines filing experience
- California or Washington experience a plus
- Effectively managing multiple long-term projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated success in independently completing highly complete actuarial analyses
- Strong prioritization skills, with the ability to balance competing demands while maintaining focus on high-impact initiatives
- Organized, detailed-oriented, and deadline-driven
- Clear and effective communicator, with the ability to convey complex topics to a non-technical audience
Technical proficiency:
- Intermediate-level expertise in Microsoft Excel
- Comfortable modifying and working with pre-written SQL code
