[ Overview:

This position is part of the Finance team within the Individual Solutions (IS) Market Segment. The Finance team provides financial reporting, projections, and analysis through quarterly earnings and annual goals and plans processes including creating of annual budgets and ongoing expense management. All in support of prioritizing and delivering Market Segment and Enterprise outcomes.

This position is part of the Actuarial exam-taking path. At Securian Financial the internal title for this position is Actuarial Sr. Analyst of Actuarial Consultant. The title and salary will be determined based on experience and exam progress.

Responsibilities include:
  • Execute and maintain various quarterly processes supporting the creation of the quarterly results packet
  • Collaborate with VCOE to support transparency, accurate, and unified financial calculations and business
  • Evaluate actual-to-expected experience on Individual Life death claims and deliver monthly reports and analysis
  • Collaborate with SBS, the Reinsurance COE, and the Valuation COE to ensure consistent understanding of mortality experience and appropriate treatment
  • Analyze and deliver reporting on key financial metrics for Individual Life Goals & Plans process
  • Collaborate with FP&A on explanation, understand, and updates to key measures
  • Build and perform experience studies for key Individual Life assumptions including mortality, lapse, and expense.
  • Collaborate with Valuation COE and Product Development on assumption impacts and implementation of changes


Qualifications:
  • ASA/Near ASA designation
  • Strong creative, analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze information and form recommendations
  • Maintain and drive relationships with internal teams
  • Ability to deliver results under tight timelines


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years financial analysis experience
  • Background/Understanding of insurance products and their financial statements

Physical Job Requirements:
  • Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day

  • Ability to perform grasping tasks 2-4 hours per day
