Role Summary

Pricing partner to underwriting

Closer to an underwriting-partner role than a pure data-science position because actuarial analysis is tied to rating plans, filings, competitive positioning, and product decisions.

Associate-level P&C actuarial data analyst role in New York, supporting commercial General Liability, Workers' Compensation, Property, and Excess Casualty products. You will work across pricing, competitive intelligence, regulatory filings, portfolio monitoring, and data analytics while partnering with underwriting, compliance, product, and engineering teams.

Requirements

Strongly preferred

  • 2-5 years commercial P&C insurance or actuarial experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance or related field
  • Demonstrated experience with commercial insurance products and data analytics
  • Advanced SQL proficiency from PostgreSQL databases
  • SERFF system knowledge including filing preparation and objection response
  • Advanced spreadsheet modeling skills for financial analysis
  • Experience with ISO manuals, NCCI data, and regulatory research platforms
  • Understanding of commercial insurance rating methodologies and underwriting guidelines
  • Knowledge of state insurance filings process
  • Understanding of ISO forms, NCCI guidelines, and industry standard practices
  • Understanding of actuarial concepts: loss development, rate adequacy, predictive modeling
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Cross-functional collaboration experience

Nice to have

  • Actuarial exams (P, FM, MAS-I, MAS-II, 5) preferred
  • Python experience for advanced analytics preferred
