As an Actuarial Director at UnitedHealth Group, you'll direct cross-functional teams and influence senior leadership to adopt new ideas and approaches. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide actuarial direction and strategy to balance growth and profitability goals
  • Manage a team of junior actuaries, including formal and on-the-job training, as well as career guidance and general development
  • Lead actuarial analyses in support of benefit strategy, trend projections and network optimization for a book of large, national employers
  • Build relationships with external consulting partners to benefit our mutual clients
  • Lead internal and external presentations, translating highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences

The challenges here are significant. You'll be responsible for leading an actuarial team, managing large projects with complex work streams, and delivering the analytics to our business partners and clients. You'll be counted on as an expert in your content area and responsible for the work product at a high level.

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of Actuarial experience; or similar consulting, finance or analytical work experience
  • 1+ years of experience managing, leading and/or mentoring people
  • Experience with actuarial concepts
  • Advanced or higher level of proficiency with Excel
  • Beginner or higher level of proficiency with PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) designation
  • Experience working in the health care industry, specifically with health benefits consulting or strategy for large group ASO accounts
  • Previous experience with national and/or large group accounts
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Access, VBA, and/or SQL (Structured Query Language)
  • Working knowledge of Word

The salary range for this role is $124,500 to $239,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
