Director-level Life actuarial role leading Universal Life valuation and financial reporting in Birmingham, AL (hybrid). JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Lead UL valuation and quarterly earnings variance analysis
Oversee Statutory, GAAP, and Tax reserve and intangible asset calculations
Manage model governance, SOX controls, and valuation model improvements
Hybrid role — 3 days/week in Birmingham, AL office and 2 days remote eligible
ASA required; FSA preferred with 3+ years as a credentialed actuary

DOMAIN EXPERTISE

Universal Life valuation and financial reporting
Statutory, GAAP, and Tax reserve calculations
SOX control execution and model governance
AG38 8D testing, X-factor testing, and Preferred Mortality studies
Managing and mentoring actuarial students and early-career staff

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree required
ASA or equivalent designation required
Minimum of 3 years as a credentialed actuary within the insurance industry
Strong knowledge of Statutory, GAAP, and Tax valuation principles
Ability to work hybrid in Birmingham, AL (3 days/week) preferred
