Role provides key support to the Product Management department at Assurity. Interns will assist in the management of life, health and annuity insurance products by providing support for pricing and filing of new products, performing model projections, and applying mathematical and actuarial theory to answer questions and solve unique problems, all while developing their technical actuarial and interpersonal communication skills. These activities are performed under the supervision of an experienced member of the Product Management staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Apply mathematical and actuarial skills in the product development process to:
- Assist in building pricing models;
- Perform profit and sensitivity testing;
- Prepare rate files for product administration and illustration systems and analyze test cases for accuracy; and
- Support completion of actuarial memoranda and other technical documents.
Apply analytical skills in the product management process to:
- Assist with answering inquiries regarding inforce policy values and other actuarial issues;
- Provide support for participation in various industry product surveys;
- Query and analyze data sets as requested by members of Product Management and other Company divisions; and
- Complete special projects, as needed.
Apply personal development, communication, collaboration, and relationship skills to:
- Recommend improvements to actuarial processes;
- Learn new computer software as needed and instruct the department in its use;
- Comply with Corporate Model Governance guidelines;
- Build rapport among colleagues across multiple operational divisions; and
- Enhance the organizational culture through departmental projects and activities.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Has strong mathematical, analytical, and computer skills (Excel, Access, SQL, for example)

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Progress towards a degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related field.
- Minimum of one Society of Actuaries exam completed preferred.
PHYSICAL AND WORK SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work minimum 15 hours a week within flex-time guidelines required.
- Onsite internship in Lincoln, NE.
