Role Summary

Role type

Pricing partner to underwriting

Closer to a pricing-underwriting partner than a modelling-heavy IC: live large-account recommendations and underwriting collaboration outweigh pure model ownership.

Manager-level P&C pricing role in New York or Chicago, focused on commercial auto and general liability. You’ll lead GLM-based pricing, large-account and loss-rated analyses, portfolio strategy, and a small actuarial team while presenting recommendations to senior leadership and partnering with underwriting, finance, and claims.

Must have

  • Minimum ACAS designation
  • 7+ years of actuarial experience

Strongly preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
  • Extensive experience with auto and general liability lines
  • Significant individual large account and loss-rated pricing experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing small teams (1-3 direct reports)
  • Proven expertise in actuarial modeling, risk assessment, and pricing strategies specific to auto and general liability lines
  • Experience building and maintaining sophisticated pricing models using GLM or comparable techniques
  • Strong R and SQL programming skills
  • Ability to work with large, complex datasets and to automate actuarial analyses
  • High proficiency with actuarial and statistical software, along with data management and visualization skills
  • Superior ability to communicate actuarial results to non-technical audiences
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail
