Positions in this function perform in a lead delivery role on projects for customers internal to UHG and external to UHG, that leverage large data sets, both traditional and proprietary to Optum, to drive improvements in financial, clinical, and operational performance. Successful candidate will be able to work effectively within large multi-disciplined teams, as well as mentor, manage, and teach younger actuaries. Critical thinking, ability to clearly communicate complex topics, strong willingness to mentor and be mentored, and passion for leveraging predictive analytics are keys to success.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Bring traditional actuarial skills to payer organizations as the health care market continues to evolve, including:
- Assist in developing innovative analytics and strategies to drive measurable performance
- Leverage Optum's immense data sets and platforms along with client data to provide insights and actionable strategies through predictive analytics
- Interpret, compile, and disseminate results of modeling analyses with appropriate conclusions and recommendations to assist in client decision making and strategic direction
- Lead meetings across various clients, Optum's multi-disciplinary teams
- Potential areas of focus may include but are not limited to: Healthcare Economics, benchmarking analysis, value-based contract feasibility analysis, and population health analytics
- Develop professionally within an actuarial team, while collaborating with other clinicians, business analysts, and strategy consultants

Required Qualifications:
- ASA or FSA credential
- 5+ years of healthcare experience
- 3+ years of consulting experience either in consulting firm or internal consulting within a payer
- 2+ years of Commercial actuarial experience
- 2+ years of experience with SAS, R, and/or Python
Preferred Qualification:
- Solid desire to advance the actuarial profession through use of predictive analytics and AI/Machine learning
