Job Description

Job Summary

The Actuarial Student will be responsible for all aspects of valuation, including determining the reserves for the company. Uses necessary software (e.g., Excel, SQL, Word, Power BI, Axis Actuarial Modeling Software).

Responsibilities:
  • Perform quarterly valuations using Axis Actuarial Modeling Software
  • Perform claim reserving process for quarterly and management reporting using RESQ.
  • Provide support for financial reporting process - quarterly, annual, and ad hoc.
  • Assist in integrating inputs and output requirements from new administrative system requirements and new/repricing product support.
  • Assist in user acceptance testing of new modeling system requirements and new system infrastructure.
  • Assist in automation of existing processes.
  • May perform other actuarial ad hoc requests.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.


Qualifications

Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong math aptitude and business sense
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Reliability to achieve quality, accuracy, and timelines of work products
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Experience with Moody's AXIS or other valuation modeling software and/or RESQ desired but not required

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Economics or Statistics
  • Passed 2+ exams, actively pursuing Actuarial designation (ASA or FSA)
