Role type

Structured actuarial student internship

Closer to a student development role than a modelling-heavy IC position because the ad emphasizes supervised exposure and learning rather than model ownership.

Remote Health actuarial internship with BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, available from Chattanooga or another eligible Eastern/Central Time Zone location. You’ll support experience studies, assumption development, pricing, risk adjustment, and valuation research for health insurance products while working with staff actuaries and analysts.

Requirements

Must have

  • Active college student with 2+ years completed; recent grads or Master's/PhD students eligible
  • Must provide transcripts
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Available 20–40 hrs/week, Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm ET, May–Aug 2027
  • Appropriate decision-making skills
  • Eligible to work in the US without sponsorship

Strongly preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive self-starter able to prioritize, work independently, and manage time/resources
  • Major in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, or Statistics
  • Reside in Eastern or Central Time Zone
  • Interest in emerging technologies, including AI and automation, applied to actuarial/business challenges
