Pricing partner to underwriting

Closer to a pricing-underwriting partnership than a modelling-heavy IC: the ad stresses sharing results with underwriters and supporting business decisions.

Associate P&C Actuary role in Glen Allen, Virginia, focused on Commercial Property pricing and reserving. You’ll analyze rates and results, automate actuarial work in Python or similar languages, and share insights with executives and staff underwriters. The role is on-site and seeks 3–5 years of experience with ACAS or near-ACAS status.

Requirements

Must have

  • Prior actuarial experience supporting property lines required
  • Property & casualty experience required

Strongly preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, data science, statistics, or related subjects
  • 3+ years of relevant actuarial experience
  • ACAS designation or very close to obtaining ACAS
  • Proven programming experience with Python, R, Java, or C (Python preferred)
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent analytical ability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice to have

  • Excess & surplus lines experience is a plus
