Overview

We are looking for an inventive, creative, thoughtful actuarial Associate or new Fellow, who is interested in analyzing complex structures for many lines of business. This person will work closely with underwriting and other actuarial staff to evaluate existing business and diverse new opportunities. Key areas of focus for this role are our growing E&S portfolio and our fronting business. Effective communication of your work to technical and non-technical audiences will be a key strength.

We are looking for someone who can work with the various involved parties, both internally and externally to gather information and evaluate the risk and reward of the opportunities presented. This person will assist with making creative methodology changes, driving a process to a conclusion while meeting critical deadlines and/or improving team workflow.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and provide actuarial pricing review for new business opportunities
  • Analyze existing business in order to guide strategy
  • Review, understand, and refine various pricing models and tools in use by the business
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure analyses are clearly communicated and documented
  • Monitor key metrics to ensure ongoing profitability
  • Assist with strategic pricing projects to improve portfolio profitability
  • Strive for continuing process improvement and efficiency


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, actuarial science, or financial related field.
  • Five to ten years of actuarial experience, including pricing of multiple lines of business
  • ACAS or FCAS
  • Understanding of insurance, underwriting, reinsurance, sales, and financials.
  • Ability to critically problem solve and use business knowledge in developing solutions.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Adept with programming languages / software such as SQL, SAS, R preferred
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and with diverse skillsets
