Position Overview:
Reporting to the Vice President, Actuary - Portfolio & Alternative Risk, the Actuary will be focused on pricing in support of our Captives portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a trusted consultant to Underwriting and other business partners to price and analyze potential Captive opportunities, monitor performance of existing Captive partners, and recommend improvements to further Ascot's growth, profitability, and efficiency ambitions within the Alternative Risk space.
- Play a strong role in all Captive pricing aspects including pricing individual accounts and layers, developing technical rating algorithms and analytical tools, assessing portfolio profitability, and communicating with internal and external business partners.
- Research rates and collaborate with underwriting, finance, and actuarial teams to support our captives and facultative reinsurance offerings.
- Partner with other team members in building expertise around reinsurance pricing across all lines of business, helping to support our business partners in making better reinsurance purchasing decisions.

Requirements:
- ACAS designation
- 7+ years of actuarial pricing experience with meaningful experience pricing large accounts, captives, and/or reinsurance
- Experience with pricing excess of loss and other reinsurance structures
- Broad overall knowledge of (re)insurance
- Familiarity with schedule F and unauthorized reinsurers is a plus
- Strong data, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to management and other functional areas
- Ability to interact and work within a team environment and approach actuarial work as a collaborative product
- Ability to manage a dynamic workload, balance evolving priorities in an operational environment, and be a responsive business partner are essential
- Must be detail-oriented and able to quickly evaluate the accuracy of information
- Experience with 3rd party data sources and competitor rate filings is a plus
- Experience with relevant coding languages (SQL, R, Python, SAS, VBA, etc.) is a plus

Compensation
Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. The base pay is just one component of Ascot's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and other forms of discretionary compensation awarded by the Company. The annualized base pay range for this role is: $150,000 - $180,000.
