[ Description

This role will assist the Corporate Enterprise Insights and Collaboration function within Corporate Actuarial. The scope covers all actuarial areas other than reserving, with broad responsibilities related to pricing, planning and complex analyses. In this role, a person is tasked with considering challenges and opportunities from a total Liberty viewpoint and then working with counterparts across the organization to provide analysis and recommendations to Liberty senior leaders, including the Corporate CFO, Chief Corporate Actuary, and others. The person in this role will engage with not only fellow actuaries but also finance and planning teams, reinsurance purchasing teams, and capital management teams across Liberty. While there will be some recurring work, most of the assignments will be more of one-off consulting-type projects.

At the enterprise level, the function drives consistency of actuarial assumptions relating to planning and profitability across the business units of Liberty Mutual. Pricing responsibilities include reviewing class loss ratios in collaboration with corporate reserving, developing views on rate change and adequacy, and evaluating mix changes. Planning responsibilities include identification of key segments for independent review and coordinating key assumptions and methodologies used for loss ratio planning across business units.

Optimally, a candidate has had exposure to both traditional and non-traditional roles within an insurance company environment, such as capital allocation or interactions with underwriting or accounting functions. A candidate should expect to regularly be asked to perform independent research to find relevant internal and external data and synthesize information from multiple sources into a cohesive work product. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skill as well as a demonstrated ability to execute thoroughly in a collaborative environment.
