This is a PAID internship starting at $25/hr and adjusted for exams passed.
The actuarial internship program will be on a hybrid basis (combo of work from home and in-office) from the Downtown Pittsburgh office.
Responsibilities:
- Work with actuaries at the company to analyze emerging trends and other key drivers of financial performance
- Provide insights to leadership along with recommendations to complex business problems
- Assist senior actuarial positions in the development of mathematical models in connection with other departments to predict the impact of proposed changes
- Provide analytical support for rate development and filings
- Learn about the different roles an actuary plays within a Health Insurance and Property & Casualty company
- Communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal deliverables
Qualifications:
- At least 1 actuarial exam passed is strongly preferred
- Strong technical and analytical skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint)
- Some experience with SQL, R and/or SAS preferred
- Working towards an Actuarial Science degree or other related field in STEM
- Intern is pursuing associateship or fellowship from the Society of Actuaries (SOA) or Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS)
