Regulatory actuarial specialist

A regulatory compliance role rather than a carrier pricing partner position—the deciding factor is authority-facing filing, legislation, and standards work.

Senior Life and Health actuarial regulatory role with the State of Alaska’s Division of Insurance in Juneau. You’ll review healthcare and other life and health rate and form filings, assess insurer solvency and reserve adequacy, analyze data, and advise the Director on regulations and legislation. The position is office-based and requires at least five years of actuarial experience; ASA and AAA membership are preferred.

Requirements

Must have

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar
  • 5-7 years of actuarial experience
  • Experience reviewing or preparing healthcare insurance rate filings

Strongly preferred

  • Solid understanding of actuarial concepts for life and health products (pricing, valuation, non-forfeiture)
  • ASA designation and AAA membership

Nice to have

  • Experience reviewing life, annuity, disability, or long-term care insurance product filings
  • Proficiency in SERFF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a virtual environment
  • Ability to explain complex actuarial concepts to non-actuaries
  • Knowledge of insurance actuarial procedures and principles
  • Knowledge of insurance laws, rules, and regulations
