HIGHLIGHTS

Health actuary role at Wellmark supporting pricing, reserving, and predictive modeling for health plan products and PBM-related financial risk. You will evaluate provider networks, risk adjustment, exchanges, and trends while building models and advising business partners. Hybrid role based in Des Moines, IA (Central Iowa preferred) with monthly HQ travel if remote.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Evaluate provider networks, risk adjustment, exchanges, and regulatory impacts
Build forecasts, predictive models, and translate results for business partners
Proficient with Excel, SAS or SQL; PowerBI, R, Python preferred
Hybrid role; Central Iowa preferred with monthly travel to Des Moines HQ

DOMAIN EXPERTISE

Actuarial experience in health insurance
Pricing, reserving, or predictive modeling subject matter expertise
Data analysis with Excel, SAS or SQL
Experience evaluating PBM contracts or pharmacy financial guarantees

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA)
Minimum 4 years of actuarial experience in health insurance
Proficient with data analysis using Excel, SAS or SQL
Advanced SME in two or more of pricing, reserving, or predictive modeling
Ability to independently manage projects in a deadline-driven environment
