[ Aon is looking to fill two roles ranging from Actuarial Analyst to Consultant & Actuary

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results by delivering innovative and effective solutions that will have an impact within the Actuarial & Analytics practice of Aon's Global Risk Consulting business group.

Location: Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Boston, and Washington, D.C.

Work Style: Prefer Hybrid - in office as needed, but open to remote work for the right candidate.

As an Analyst, you will be responsible for providing support to the lead actuary. This will involve data cleansing, actuarial modeling, project management, supporting client relationships (both internal and external), and presentation development. You must also be willing to continue to learn new things, both through internal networking (e.g., with other Aon colleagues) and through external/industry research as needed. You should have an aptitude for problem solving, attention to detail, and the capacity to juggle multiple projects at once.

As an Actuary, you will be responsible for producing clean, high-quality actuarial analyses with an eye towards the future. This includes, but is not limited to, actuarial modeling, managing multiple projects, communicating with clients, and working as an integral part of a broader Aon team. This role is client-facing, so the ability to communicate and build relationships is important.

Duties and Responsibilities

Analyst
  • Gain and maintain proficiency in existing tools by supporting a variety of ongoing actuarial work, including loss reserving, loss forecasting, self-insurance analysis, simulations, etc.
  • Assist in improving benchmarking efforts, whether in data collection or analysis
  • Produce documentation and assist in training efforts for broader roll-outs as needed
  • Report to the local A&A team, but receive additional guidance and supervision from other Aon A&A professionals worldwide
  • Efficiently deliver quality products and services to clients or colleagues on time, and ensure work product consistently meets expectations for accuracy, process, and reasonability
  • Be able to work independently
  • Continuously develop and apply improved procedures to increase accuracy and efficiency, and alert team members to deficiencies in data, processes, and results
  • Remain compliant with time and expense reporting and other internal Aon business requirements.

Actuary
  • Serve as the lead consultant for account assignments
  • Have primary project responsibility for actuarial reserve analyses, risk allocation analyses, captive feasibility studies, loss forecasting, and stochastic modeling.
  • Provide leadership in support of long-term initiatives.
  • Build actuarial models when data is limited.
  • Maintain effective day to day relationships with Aon team/client contacts.
  • Prepare and present proposals without substantial oversight.
  • Create and/or improve methodology, products, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure that the Aon work product is of high quality, adheres to all relevant actuarial standards, and is provided in a timely manner.
  • Provide the leadership necessary to create and foster a team culture across all account service and brokerage teams.
  • Anticipate client questions and develop problem-solving solutions.

You Bring Knowledge and Expertise

Education / Experience

Analyst
  • BS/BA Degree or equivalent in mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, finance, or other related analytical fields.
  • Commitment towards the completion of the Actuarial exam program
  • Prior internship in an actuarial field is a plus, but not required

Actuary
  • Attained ACAS or FCAS designation; Near ACAS (Exam 5+) will be considered
  • Maintains continuing education requirements.
  • Meets (or plans to meet) requirements to sign actuarial opinion (ACAS + Exam 7).
  • Minimum of 4 years of insurance experience preferred, particularly in or adjacent to the actuarial function
  • Detailed understanding of actuarial concepts and reserving methodologies.
  • Experience presenting and communicating technical concepts to less-technical (or non-technical) people
  • Strong knowledge of technology tools for actuarial analysis, technology applications and data utilization for actuarial functions.

Skills
  • Strong abilities with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Experience with programming languages (R, Python, SQL) and @Risk are a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to operate effectively through challenging or ambiguous situations.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and in writing.
  • Good organization and time management skills; ability to work independently.
  • Close attention to detail.
  • Ability to write complex reports and business correspondence.
  • Excellent knowledge of actuarial methodologies and principles.
  • Commitment to client service and business ethics.

The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $150,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of Chicago, IL. The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
