Overview:
This Assistant Actuary position will be part of the Chubb Small Commercial Actuarial team and will support Workers' Compensation line of business. The role can sit in our Jersey City, NJ or Whitehouse Station, NJ offices on a hybrid schedule. This position will have broad exposure to various functions across Chubb including underwriting, product, analytics/data science, and implementation. There is opportunity to participate in other line of business (multiperil/auto/excess) workstreams or broader team-wide initiatives.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Conduct annual profitability studies across granular coverage, class, distribution, and geographic level dimensions
  • Participate in rating implementation and governance process in externalized rating platforms and provide actuarial production support for existing rating implementations
  • Collaborate with Global Analytics to develop pricing modeling capabilities and set up regular and rigorous model refresh process
  • Develop rigorous portfolio management processes to accurately monitor pricing model performance, achieved rate changes, new business adequacy, and mix
  • Participate in line of business financial planning through pro-forma portfolio modeling and forecasting
  • Closely collaborate with Portfolio Management and Reporting functions to develop automated and real time portfolio monitoring capabilities
  • Support actuarial state filings and satisfy regulatory requirements


Qualifications

Qualifications
  • BS/BA Degree or higher in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance, or a related field
  • 4+ years of actuarial experience with 2+ in Workers' Compensation
  • ACAS or FCAS or equivalent
  • Proficiency in a programming language such as Python or R
  • Predictive modeling experience in Python or R strongly preferred
  • Experience with relational databases, and strong ability to write complex queries in SQL
  • Familiarity with concepts in statistics and data science
  • Ability to work independently and communicate ideas effectively
  • Well organized and able to maintain good documentation and record keeping

The pay range for the role is $80,500 to $137,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
