Job Description:

We are actively seeking a talented Assistant Actuary to join our Reinsurance team within the Corporate Division. This role can be on-site, hybrid, or 100% remote.

As an Assistant Actuary - Reinsurance, you will play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by assisting the Reinsurance team on the execution of Pacific Life’s enterprise reinsurance strategy.

How you will make an impact:

  • Analyze and execute new reinsurance arrangements supporting new business strategy from RFP to final implementation and internal/external communications
  • Participate in research projects and reinsurance initiatives that support the division’s financial and risk management goals and new business strategy, utilizing quantitative and analytical skills
  • Analyze potential sources of reinsurance risk and estimate financial consequences or key performance indicators
  • Support reinsurance needs across the company by working with Underwriting, Product Design, and other functional areas across the company
  • Identify, assess, and communicate information regarding reinsurance risks with functions across the organization
  • Conceive and implement tools and methods for reinsurance risk evaluation by translating large data into a digestible format. Prepare dashboards, tools and reports that provide key insights on reinsured business to senior management
  • Assists in inforce reinsurance reviews to formulate a coordinated strategic approach to each reinsurer relationship
  • Proactively looks for opportunities to streamline or enhance current processes
  • This position is eligible to be participate in Pacific Life’s Student Actuarial Rotation program

The experience you'll bring

  • 4+ years of actuarial experience within the life insurance industry
  • ASA Designation, progressing towards FSA designation
  • Ability to interact effectively with multiple teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Flexible and professional demeanor
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Action-oriented and results driven mentality
  • Highly organized and strong time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted provides a basis to determine the appropriate offer dependent upon several factors including but not limited to geographic location, experience, skills, education and pay equity. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$103,000.00 - $128,800.00 - $173,900.00
