Capital Modeling/Model Development
  • Lead quarterly Group capital model analyses in partnership with SVP including model parameterization, testing, and reporting, with an emphasis on analysis of change and explanation of anomalies.
  • Identify model improvements, design, code, and test new model features.
  • Participate in capital model presentations to the ACGL Executive Leadership Team (CEO, CFO, CUO, CIO, and Segment CEOs).
  • Support ACGL board presentations by the SVP and/or Group Chief Risk Officer/EVP
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses in support of group and business segment special projects.
  • Reconcile results to rating agency/regulatory models and explain strengths and weaknesses of different regimes.
  • Work to embed capital allocation effectively within the business units for pricing and performance measurement.
  • Maintain system documentation and support model governance activities.


Risk Management/Project Management
  • Work in a cross-functional environment under the Group CRO to address corporate objectives including IAIS ComFrame, Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) group supervision and other emerging requirements.
  • Collaborate with relevant project teams to ensure the timely and successful implementation of risk management-related initiatives.


Qualifications
  • 5+ years P&C Actuarial Experience
  • Demonstrated programming proficiency is essential.
  • Experience with general-purpose coding languages (e.g., Python, R, VBA, SQL)
  • Knowledge of at least one specialist actuarial language (e.g. RPC Tyche, Igloo, ReMetrica, MetaRisk) is preferred.
  • Experience in data management (Snowflake), risk management, and/or catastrophe modeling is desirable.
  • Understanding of actuarial, investment and macro-economic principles.
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to clearly present complex analyses to varied audiences.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel and working with various financial/actuarial data sources.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting regulations, including Bermuda Statutory and US GAAP.
  • Basic ERM knowledge or experience including ORSA, Risk Appetite/Tolerance/Limits, corporate policies and other ERM initiatives in a dynamic international insurance environment is a plus.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a decentralized team.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize demanding workload according to volume and urgency.
  • Excellent planning and organization, analytical/problem solving, decision-making and financial analysis skills.
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Actuarial certification e.g., ACAS, FCAS, FIA or equivalent.
  • Advanced degree and/or other related certification e.g., FRM, CRM, CERA, CFA, CPA may also be considered.


Education and Experience
  • The candidate should have a bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance or related quantitative field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in the insurance/reinsurance industry.
  • The candidate should possess knowledge of a Property and Casualty (re)insurance and/or Mortgage Insurance.

For individuals assigned or hired to work in California, Colorado, Jersey City, NJ; New York State; and/or Washington State, the base salary range is listed below. This range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

$95,900 - $163,000/year
  • Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above range may be modified in the future
