We're actively seeking a talented Assistant Actuary to join our Risk Management team within Consumer Market Division. This role can be on-site, hybrid, or 100% remote.

As an Assistant Actuary, you'll play a key role in Pacific Life's growth and long-term success. You will be involved in various tasks/projects with high visibility to understand and analyze risk metrics and formulate risk mitigation solutions for both assets and liabilities. This team enjoys a collaborative environment where we work together to manage Asset and Liability risks of our fixed annuity and life insurance products.

How you will make an impact:
  • Participate in ALM reporting and strategies design
  • Apply dynamic problem solving to minimize interest rate risk and maximize portfolio yield to enhance competitiveness
  • Assist in managing $75B of General Account assets and $5B hedge assets
  • Calculate and analyze risk associated with fixed annuity and life insurance products
  • Perform Economic Capital calculation and reporting
  • Support the testing and implementation of new Actuarial modeling system
  • Participate in various of Asset reporting processes, such as, funding level projection, investible cash forecast, yield attribution analysis and investment dashboard, etc.
  • Streamline current reporting processes and build out additional reporting capabilities, as needed


The experience you will bring:
  • ASA with 4+ years of actuarial experience within the life insurance industry
  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, finance, mathematics, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills with innate curiosity and attention to detail
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong technical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with one or more of the following: SQL, Python, R, VBA


What will make you stand out:
  • Demonstrate the ability to quickly acquire and understand new concepts, technologies, and processes relevant to the role
  • Prior experience in Risk Management, Asset and Liability Management
  • Experience working in Prophet and/or MoSes
  • Prior experience using data transformation and visualization tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, or Power BI

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted provides a basis to determine the appropriate offer dependent upon several factors including but not limited to geographic location, experience, skills, education and pay equity. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$103,000.00 - $128,800.00 - $173,900.00
