This position's primary focus is Economic Scenarios (with a secondary focus on GAAP Accounting requirements) as part of the Enterprise Capabilities - ALM Modeling team within the Finance and Actuarial Organization. In this role, the associate will drive projects that have a significant impact across Actuarial while interacting with a variety of Financial Management partners.

Job Responsibilities:
• Technical expertise on economic scenario usage for actuarial purposes across the Enterprise (GAAP, STAT, economic, etc.), driving/implementing changes where appropriate and maintaining and enhancing scenario generators.
• Serves as a key resource in performing the monthly, quarterly & annual production processes for GAAP & STAT valuation purposes related to economic scenarios, accounting requirements and simplified investment modeling.
• Support in implementing and validating ALM modeling changes in support of Asset Adequacy Testing, capital, PBR, GAAP modeling, and other ALM related purposes. This mainly involves development of in-house solutions that are primarily based on Python.
• Assist in the development of proposals for assumptions & methodologies for topics related to GAAP accounting requirements and economic scenarios. Requires close collaboration within Actuarial and with other key Financial Management groups (Risk, Finance/Treasurers, Investments).
• Partners closely with others on the Governance, Technology, and Valuation teams to ensure adherence to appropriate corporate governance, controls, and documentation policies/procedures.
• Support ad-hoc scenario and discount curve generation requests, internal audit reviews, etc

Requirements:
• Actuarial, ALM and/or investment experience preferably in an insurance company context.
• (Highly proficient) knowledge of ESGs (Economic Scenario Generators) and their usage within financial industry context (preferably insurance). Exposure to economic scenarios development, and familiarity with GAAP & STAT reporting would be a plus.
• 3+ years of actuarial, ALM, and/or modeling experience preferably in an insurance company context
• Strong technical skills with programming experience in VBA, Python and SQL, (experience in AXIS and C# a plus).
• Ability to prioritize, plan, and execute across multiple work efforts simultaneously in order to meet both production related items for GAAP and STAT reporting and drive new initiatives
• Strong verbal & written communication skills, particularly in explaining technical challenges & writing documentation
• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Quantitative Finance or a related field
• Primary location for position is in the Newark, NJ or Hartford, CT office, but open to remote as well
• ASA/ FSA or close to FSA preferred

Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $111,400.00 to $165,800.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
