Opportunity Description

Milliman's Western Region Property and Casualty (P&C) Practice provides actuarial consulting on projects that feature a wide variety of actuarial techniques, including reserving, predictive modeling, telematics, by-peril and catastrophe rating, rate development, rate indications, and state filing support.

The San Francisco and Seattle teams work together to provide services to a broad array of clients in the P&C field with primary focus on loss reserve and funding analyses for insurance companies and self-insured corporations, including alternative risk programs such as captive insurance companies. This position provides excellent opportunities for professional development and advancement.

An actuary at the Associate level contributes independently and with the support of a team. On a typical assignment, the Associate Actuary will be empowered to:

  • Contribute to the vision of a given project and design analyses.
  • Oversee the execution of the project.
  • Identify issues with client-provided data and explore possible solutions.
  • Direct staff participation.
  • Write reports and support Principal with client communication.
  • Comply with internal quality control and peer review guidelines.
  • Train and provide guidance to Actuarial Analysts.
  • Participate in marketing opportunities including publications and presentations.
  • Perform or assist with other duties assigned at the direction of management.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (candidates who are close to achieving their ACAS are strongly encouraged to apply)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in property and casualty reserving (workers compensation, professional liability, etc.)
  • Experience presenting results and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Proven experience leading projects and multi-tasking

Location

This role will be part of the Milliman Western Region Property & Casualty group. but candidates hired into this role may work remotely anywhere in the U.S.

Compensation

The salary range is $105,000 to $160,000, depending on a combination of factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc. Employees are also eligible for an end of year, performance-based bonus.
