Opportunity:

As an Associate Data Analyst on the Actuarial Data and Reporting team in our Boston office, you will engage in a wide variety of projects central to enhancing BHSI's analytics and reporting capabilities within the global actuarial team. You will ideally have both the technical abilities to query and analyze data as well as the collaborative qualities to work with actuaries across various data related initiatives.

You'll receive comprehensive training in actuarial principles, insurance regulations, and industry tools. You will work alongside experienced seasoned actuaries and mentors who will support your development every step of the way.

Accountabilities:
  • Develop and automate recurring and ad hoc reports for a multitude of audiences across all products, regions, and management to support business needs and underwriting results
  • Utilize SQL to identify, extract, interpret, and analyze data for reporting
  • Support and enhance the central proprietary database by identifying and integrating data elements necessary to support reporting initiatives
  • Perform data validations and reconciliations between various sources and reports with precision and attention to detail to ensure deliverables are accurate and effective
  • Assist in the integration of various data sources to a central repository through sound testing, documentation, and execution of strategy
  • Provide technical support to actuaries and underwriters using the combination of tools needed to best complete each task (e.g. SQL, Excel, VBA)


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics or Actuarial Science, or a related field
  • Experience with business visualization software (Tableau, PowerBI) preferred
  • Knowledge of SQL, R, or similar language is preferred, although not required if candidate has proficiency in other languages or has an aptitude for programing. Advance VBA experience is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with MS Office Applications (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.), with intermediate to advanced level Excel skills.

The base salary for this position in Boston is $70,000, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience. We value our teammates - both their capabilities and character - as demonstrated by our amazing culture.
