Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with our teams to maintain, update, and continually improve the pharmacy model
  • Lead actuarial analysts in pharmacy pricing studies to support and enhance the pricing of pharmacy EGWP
  • Review emerging plan experience to keep improving pricing accuracy
  • Work in a cross-functional team forming partnerships with the Individual Medicare Pharmacy Pricing Team, Trend Team, and Finance to ensure consistency with emerging trends and strategic planning
  • Assist Underwriting with non-standard requests, ad hoc pricing questions, and review of model outputs
  • Communicate pricing results to senior management and provide guidance on achieving financial targets
  • Lead Rate filings and ensure rating methodology in rate filings is consistent with the rating model
  • Work with pharmacists on potential strategies for clients and ensure we can price them accurately
  • Work with product development on new ideas
  • Manage the workload and career development of a small staff of actuarial analysts
  • Build solid relationships across teams that will serve to strengthen our product for our members and your network for future career development

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) designation
  • 4+ years of professional Actuarial experience
  • Experience working in the healthcare industry
  • Project management experience
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of actuarial experience
  • Experience with Medicare Part D
  • Staff management experience
  • Medicare experience
  • A basic level of proficiency with SAS (Statistical Analysis System) and/or SQL (Structured Query Language)
  • A basic level of proficiency with VBA
  • Proven solid communication and presentation skills

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Washington residents is $101,200 to $184,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
