As an Associate Director & Actuary you will report directly to the Deputy Head of ICALM and support the Individual Retirement (IR) and Group Retirement (GR) lines of business (LOB).

We want to hear from you today if you can

Support the IR & GR LOB's:
  • Be part of the Control Committee,
  • Prepare material for monthly meeting and quarterly material with Chief Actuary, Financial Controls Unit (FCU), etc.
  • Work to establish a Business Requirement Document (BRD) template
  • Conduct annual reviews of model and control governance


In collaboration with valuation leads, model owners/developers:
  • Participate and propose new control designs
  • Draft/review control BRD's
  • Review Quarterly approximations applicable to IR & GR
  • Review and guide actuarial student through single cell testing
  • Support/recommend path of control gap resolution
  • Meet periodically with FCU and Internal audit Group and keep them abreast of work/changes going on, coordinate with them for SOX/external auditors' issue resolution, walk throughs, etc.
  • Review control evidence for walkthroughs
  • Review SOX process flows updated by actuarial student


Oversee Model governance related activities for IR & GR:
  • Establish relationship with Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and work through all model issues
  • Work on resolution of non-SOX issues through model governance, reviews, and challenges


What we are looking for
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or related field
  • FSA or ASA designation in the Society of Actuaries
  • 8+ years of relevant actuarial experience
  • Experience in annuities is a must
  • Demonstrated record of performance in prior roles within the financial industry showing the ability to take ownership and initiative to achieve results
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in audits, controls, and/or model governance is a plus

For positions based in Jersey City, NJ, the base salary range is $110,000-$160,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
