About The Role

This position will report into CRBG's ALM unit within the Actuarial organization. The ALM team serves as a liaison between key stakeholders including Actuarial, Finance, ERM and Investments for market risk management and asset modeling support. This individual will be responsible for understanding the end-to-end asset/liability modeling processes, supporting the development and review of asset assumptions and asset/derivative modeling enhancements, analyzing and communicating the financial impacts from those model changes, and supporting year-end statutory filings, primarily for Corebridge Insurance Company of Bermuda (CICB). This role will have frequent and regular interaction with the subject matter experts across Actuarial, Finance, ERM, Reinsurance and Investments areas.

The ideal candidate needs to have significant actuarial and finance experiences across a wide range of life insurance products and have a deep knowledge of the applications of actuarial projections for asset liability management. The successful candidate must possess excellent business acumen, strong technical and analytical skills, and an ability for multi-tasking in order to manage ALM deliverables for multiple stakeholders across the organization. The candidate must possess strong communication qualities to be able to effectively lead cross-functional ALM discussions, work with multiple stakeholders to assist in the development of asset-related assumptions, steer the development and implementation efforts with respect to the asset modeling process, and deliver clear messaging to management regarding the financial results.

Responsibilities
  • Work with Investments partners closely to develop/review asset assumptions (i.e. defaults, investment expense, reinvestment assumptions, etc.) on an annual basis, understand the fundamentals of real world and risk neutral economic scenario generators and be able to analyze/communicate the impacts on the cash flow projections under various scenarios.
  • Coordinate efforts with the asset modeling team to plan, develop and implement asset and derivative modeling changes. Analyze the model projections to ensure implementation is consistent with the US and Bermuda requirements. Impacts for CFT and PBR will be communicated to senior stakeholders to fulfill the model governance process.
  • Acclimate with the Bermuda Economic Balance Sheet framework, understand the asset modeling and filing requirements, prepare asset related filings and specific asset related stresses under BMA requirements.
  • Manage the ongoing development of asset model methodology documentation, and detailed end to end process map for asset data feeds.
  • Work closely with the Investments and actuarial teams to develop proposals for strategic asset allocation and duration targets and help evaluate alternative approaches to the asset optimization.
  • Work with model owners to monitor the ALM positions at the product level based on CRBG standards.


Qualifications
  • 7+ years of actuarial experience in the life insurance industry, with a focus on asset liability management, cash flow testing and economic risk neutral valuations.
  • An undergraduate degree in Actuarial Sciences, Finance, Statistics or a related field is required. Industry credentials such as Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM) or other related credentials are strongly desired.
  • Significant expertise working with GGY-AXIS, Prophet, TAS, or MoSes modeling software a plus.
  • Python programming experience is a plus.
  • Progressive experience in a large actuarial or finance organization.
  • Strong knowledge of actuarial projection techniques across all valuation bases: statutory, GAAP, economic, and tax.
  • Extensive experiences on asset modelling covering structured securities with prepayment models and collateralization.
  • Goal oriented and well-organized, with the ability to develop and manage disciplined processes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of a wide range of life insurance products.
  • Utilizes conceptual and analytical skills to develop solutions to complex problems.
  • Ability to build effective teams: blending teams when required, fosters strong team morale, and ensures open dialogue.
  • Customer focus: dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers and establishes/maintains effective relationships.

Compensation

Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this position is $125,000 - $165,000 at the commencement of employment. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered will ultimately be dependent on multiple factors, which may include the candidate's geographic location, skills, experience and other qualifications.

In addition, the position is eligible for a discretionary bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.

Work Location

This position is based in Corebridge Financial's in Houston, Texas or Jersey City, NJ office and is subject to our hybrid working policy, which gives colleagues the benefits of working both in an office and remotely.
