Position Summary

The Associate Director & Actuary is a key member of the actuarial valuation team. The Valuation Actuaries are responsible for calculating reserves for the millions of policies across the many product lines at Corebridge Financial.  Reserves are the biggest liability on the balance sheet for Corebridge Financial, so naturally there are many requests from key stakeholders to better understand the reserves.  This is a key role with responsibility and involvement across the entire range of Life and Retirement business units. Specific activities include leading, coordinating, messaging and providing deliverables from and requests to the valuation actuaries, such as Policyholder Contract Deposits, Policyholder Account Balance, and Separate Account Rollforwards, internal and external audit reviews, state certification requirements, EDP Submission, and Rating Agencies.

Your future team

This position will report to a Director in the Actuarial Consolidation Team. This position will work in a collaborative manner with the Valuation Actuaries, Finance, and many other areas both in and outside of Corebridge Financial. The position will also work across various geographies and product lines within Corebridge Financial. There will be significant interaction with functional operations areas such as Finance, Accounting, Investment, Internal Audit, and other areas in various locations including Woodland Hills CA, Neptune NJ and Nashville TN.

  • Further your actuarial career as an FSA or “Career ASA” in the Society of Actuaries by working as part of the valuation consolidation team.
  • Responsible for broad general projects of complex problem solving. Experience in product development, valuation, asset liability management, pricing, modeling and other related actuarial work.
  • Coordinate, prepare and perform actuarial analyses to be used in recommendations and reporting.
  • Work with others to prepare actuarial responses and communicate results of actuarial research to business unit management.

  • Work with senior leaders (both actuarial and non-actuarial leaders) on driving key business and actuarial goals.
  • Utilize your communication and documentation skills to full present results (e.g., models) and allow others to fully understand the materiality of the results and assumptions made so proper actions can be taken.
  • Work with actuarial units, finance teams, and Business units across the organization to understand stakeholder requirements.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, or other quantitative field
  • Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
  • A minimum of 7 years of actuarial experience required. Candidates with less experience will be considered for a commensurate position.
  • Demonstrates high quality leadership, judgment, organization and prioritization skills.
  • Highly detailed oriented with strong analytical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey complex mathematical and analytical concepts to various audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office especially Access and Excel
