Position Summary:

The AVP, Actuary - Medicare Part D is responsible for analyzing and forecasting the financial performance of Medicare prescription drug plans. This role involves evaluating risk, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making through data-driven insights. The actuary collaborates with cross-functional teams to manage costs, optimize plan design, and maintain CMS compliance.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Conveys a clear sense of CVS Health's core values and business plan.
  • Determines key factors affecting the financial plan and proactively influences those factors to align with CVS Health's goals based on knowledge of the economy, industry trends and marketplace conditions.
  • Leads the actuarial team to inspire and sustain the competitive advantage.
  • Participates in the development of market pricing strategies to optimize competitiveness and earnings.
  • Influences and institutes change in Actuarial policy or premium rates to maximize profitability while managing risk.
  • Partners with appropriate operational areas to proactively ensure sold products can be implemented and administered based on CVS Health's quality standards and guidelines.
  • Negotiate and influence sound corporate decisions by adhering to established risk management principles.
  • Contributes to company success of increasing business through maintenance of market alliances and relationships across market segments.
  • Works cross-functionally with other business segments on product and pricing strategies.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance.
  • Builds and influences high performing diverse workforce teams.


Required Qualifications:
  • 15+ years' experience.
  • ASA required at this level.
  • Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
  • Proven ability to work in a dynamic regulatory and legislative environment, continuously developing and adjusting strategies and processes to best position the business for success
  • Experience in leading directors, managers, individual contributors and larger teams is required.
  • Proven leadership skills and strong cross-functional relationships with sales force and other internal organizations.
  • Experience in anticipating customer needs and requirements as well as facilitating and negotiating using tact and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated success in communicating effectively with internal and external constituents.
  • Proven ability to negotiate internal and external cross-functional business issues.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pharmacy and Medicare Part D experience strongly preferred


Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree


Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$185,400.00 - $375,950.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
