Job Description

AVP, North America Actuarial Transformation

Chubb's North America Property and Casualty Actuarial Division is currently seeking an experienced leader with 7+ years of industry experience to join our team. As the AVP, NA Actuarial Transformation, you will focus on designing, developing, and implementing a sustainable, market-leading ecosystem of Actuarial analytics. This ecosystem needs to feature modern cloud and big data technologies. This role will be highly collaborative and all will be at the nexus of the Data Science, IT, and Actuarial organizations.

In this role, you will:

Consult with Actuarial teams to design, build, and/or maintain analytical processes and tools including Shiny applications

Design and implement advanced data validation, exploratory data analyses, and data visualizations

Effectively communicate with key stakeholders (both technical and non-technical) in written, oral and presentation formats

Develop and lead training for actuaries on programming and new technologies

Mentor junior engineers, data scientists and actuaries

Be a change champion and actively lead culture change within the Actuarial organization

Qualifications

Required:

Superb programming experience in Python or R

Extensive experience building and deploying Shiny applications

Deep knowledge/familiarity with Git version control

Strong leadership skills to provide guidance and direction to project teams including off-shore and near-shore employees

Excellent programming experience in SQL

Ability to partner with internal customers to identify critical problems and build value-added solutions

Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences in written, oral and presentation format

The ability to multi-task, learn new things quickly, and demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills

Preferred:

Hands-on experience with big data technologies and cloud (Databricks / Spark, Azure/AWS/GCP)

A/B testing experience for quality engineering

Knowledge of Agile methodologies

Nice to have:

Understanding of Data Science and Actuarial methodologies

Experience with ADKAR or other change management systems

Education:

The candidate should have 7+ years of industry experience in data and/or application engineering

Location:

We are open to the following work locations for this position: (Philadelphia, PA - Jersey City, NJ - Whitehouse Station, NJ - Simsbury, CT)

Please note, there will be limited expected travel to various work locations for in person collaboration and meetings

The pay range for the role is $122,500 to $198,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found on our careers website. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
