Actuarial Health and Welfare Co-op Fidelity Workplace Consulting

Our health and welfare consulting team at Fidelity provides a unique experience for candidates looking for an opportunity to grow their consulting career. Specifically, our team is focused on three key experiences:

We are client focused. Our work with clients is oriented around problem solving and not defined by products we can upsell to our client. Simply put we do what is best for our clients with no conflicting interests. All members of our team work with our most senior leaders on a day to day basis. This gives everyone the opportunity to learn from industry leaders with 20+ years of experience in H&W consulting. We think it is important for our associates to have client exposure early in their careers and throughout to develop strong relationship skills. As such, we provide opportunities for all to gain valuable client exposure and assist in the critical process of building client relationships that last.

The Expertise We're Looking For
  • Mathematics, Actuarial Science or quantitative subject major preferred
  • Having passed a Society of Actuaries exam strongly preferred
  • Courses in business, accounting, finance, U.S healthcare, or economics a plus
  • Prior internship a plus
  • Availability of six months (January 2026 to July 2026)

The Purpose of Your Role

The Actuarial Co-op will work with teammates to provide actuarial services and consulting advice to clients regarding their benefit programs with an emphasis in health and welfare plans. We will work with you to develop your financial, business and consultative skills. Career path for candidates aims at becoming a consulting actuary working directly with and advising chief financial officers and human resource officers of mid to large size companies regarding their employee benefit programs

The Value You Deliver
• Collecting and preparing data necessary to analyze benefit programs
• Maintaining organized storage of client documentation (e.g., Summary Plan Documents (SPDs), contracts, employee communication)
• Assisting in the development of health and welfare program pricing, reserving, budgets, financial dashboard reporting, employee contributions and premium equivalent rates for self-funded plans
• Assisting in the negotiation of rates, contractual provisions and performance guarantees with current benefit vendors
• Performing marketing analysis including RFP creation, proposal collection, and vendor comparisons; Assisting with vendor selection, performance criteria, pricing negotiations and contractual provisions
