JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

  • Research and develop catastrophe and predictive risk models using large weather and loss datasets
  • Build hybrid approaches combining stochastic catastrophe models with machine learning
  • Work with R/Python, SQL, geospatial tools; familiarity with RMS/Verisk desirable
  • Senior individual contributor role with ownership of complex quantitative modeling
  • Position targeted for Columbus, OH; remote candidates in US may be considered

DOMAIN EXPERTISE

  • Catastrophe risk modeling
  • Climate/weather and insurance exposure data analysis
  • Geospatial data analysis (GIS, raster/vector)
  • Machine learning for predictive risk modeling
  • Experience with catastrophe modeling platforms (RMS/Verisk)

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree or higher in Data Science, Statistics, Math, or related
  • Typically 5+ years of related work experience in financial or actuarial risk modeling
  • Strong programming in R and/or data science workflows; SQL proficiency
  • Experience with machine learning (Random Forests, regression, mixed-effects)
  • Ability to work with geospatial data and large climate/weather datasets
