Job Title: Corporate Vice President and Actuary

Location: New York, NY This position reports to NY Life's HQ in New York City. Applicants may work from home within a commutable distance of New York City.

Offered Wage: $185,910/year

Duties: Assists in the projection, analysis, and pricing of income annuity products, including projecting investment earnings, mortality and policyholder behavior, expenses, dividends, and taxes on a statutory basis. Produces financial projections required for assumption testing and development on this set of products. Collaborates with Retail Annuity Product Management partners to test, prototype, and substantiate early-stage product concepts. Contributes to product development initiatives and pricing efforts across the company's full suite of annuity products. Leads analytics on insight-driven cross-product topics such as asset liability management (ALM), reinsurance, and capital methodologies. Proposes and implements improvement strategies to add efficiency throughout the pricing ecosystem. Focuses on building relationships with all business partners in Retail Annuities and Finance.

Education & Experience Requirements:

Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus 3 years of experience in providing actuarial services for life insurance or annuity products.

Or, alternatively:

Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and 5 years of experience in providing actuarial services for life insurance or annuity products.

Required Skills:
  • Must possess Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation


Experience must include 1 year in each of the following skills:

1) Performing pricing for spread and fee-based annuity and retirement products leveraging knowledge of how financial markets drive different sources of earnings;

2) Generating multiple asset liability management (ALM) metrics for a large life insurance company and performing attribution analysis to explain the movements in aforementioned metrics and associated financial statements;

3) Designing, implementing, and reviewing actuarial models to support pricing efforts, assumption testing, regulatory requirements, and ALM requirements; and,

4) Improving and enhancing existing business procedures to increase efficiency and improve understanding on actuarial work products.
