Director-level life actuarial role leading Universal Life (UL) valuation, reserves, and financial reporting in Birmingham, AL. You will oversee Statutory, GAAP, and Tax valuation, SOX controls, model governance, and mentor valuation staff. Hybrid role with three days per week in office.
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
- Lead UL valuation and quarterly earnings variance analysis
- Oversee Statutory, GAAP, and Tax reserve and intangible asset calculations
- Maintain model governance, SOX controls, and valuation model improvements
- Manage and mentor actuarial students and early-career staff
- Hybrid role – 3 days in office, 2 days remote (Birmingham, AL)
DOMAIN EXPERTISE
- Universal Life valuation and financial reporting
- Statutory, GAAP, and Tax valuation principles
- Actuarial modeling for life insurance products
- Experience as a credentialed actuary within the insurance industry
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- ASA or equivalent designation required
- Minimum 3 years as a credentialed actuary within the insurance industry
- Bachelor's degree required
- Strong knowledge of Statutory, GAAP, and Tax valuation principles
- Experience with PolySystems preferred
