We're actively seeking a talented Director Actuary to join our Enterprise ALM Hedging team in Newport Beach, CA.

As a Director Actuary, you'll move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by leading a team of actuaries in developing, implementing, and operating product specific hedge programs. Moreover, you will serve as a key voice in enhancing our existing hedge programs (e.g., VA) and developing innovative new hedge programs. You will fill a role that sits on the Enterprise ALM Hedging team in the Pacific Life Investments division, while partnering with stakeholders throughout the company.

How you'll help move us forward:
• Own the development, implementation, and operation of the VA dynamic hedging programs
• Plan and execute innovative hedging strategies to effectively manage complex market risk exposures
• Lead and develop a team of Actuarial professionals that effectively contributes to the Enterprise ALM Hedging Team, Pacific Life Investments, and PL goals
• Partner with key stakeholders (Finance, Product Development, PLI Derivatives, Treasury, Inforce Management) by effectively communicating hedge performance results to ensure clear understanding on hedging financial impacts
• Proactively report, address, recommend for approval (to Hedge Committee / ALCO) and ultimately implement any hedge breakage solutions and program enhancements prioritizing and balancing process efficiency and effective governance while emphasizing innovation
• Lead new rider product hedging strategy analysis, development, and ultimately the hedge program recommendation for approval
• Effectively communicate complex financial concepts and risk management solutions to audiences with varied levels of familiarity with capital markets and actuarial concepts
• Lead team through the development and implementation of enhancements to operational processes, controls, and governance

The experience you bring:
• 8+ years of actuarial experience and an FSA designation
• 3+ years of experience managing and developing a high-performing team
• Strong technical capability to solve complex problems efficiently and effectively
• Demonstrated ability to make strategic business decisions and move projects forward
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to interact productively with teams with competing priorities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
• Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance, economics, or a related quantitative field

• Proficient in Bloomberg, Tableau, Prophet, Python

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$198,810.00 - $242,990.00
