Job Description:

We’re actively seeking a talented Director 7 Actuary  to join our Risk Management team. This role can be on-site, hybrid, or 100% remote.

As a Director & Actuary, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by leading a team of actuaries in projecting Variable Annuity balance sheet and income statements under GAAP, Statutory and Economic lenses.  The projections are used for measuring quarterly risk exposure and annual planning and forecasting.  You will work alongside the hedging team to assess potential risk mitigation approaches, and the impacts on the risk exposures and plan. You will fill an existing role that sits on a team of 8 people in the Consumer Markets division.
 
How you will make an impact: 

  • Manage quarterly VA GAAP, STAT, and Economic risk projections, annual business plan
  • Oversee the development, maintenance, and documentation of financial models and modeling processes in support of the Division’s evolving VA risk management needs. Identify areas of potential improvements and recommend/implement solutions with emphasis on innovation, efficiency, and governance
  • Build tools and understanding on how projections would change under different economic assumptions and hedging strategy
  • Work with Financial Projections and Analysis to explain the drivers of income and balance sheet changes due to changes in the underlying economic assumptions
  • Participate in complex cross-functional projects and initiatives in a dynamic business environment. Effectively communicate complex financial concepts to colleagues and management
  • Manage a team of actuarial students 

The experience you will bring: 

  • 8+ years of actuarial experience with an FSA designation
  • Deep experience in Variable Annuity products, in areas of actuarial modeling, financial reporting, forecasting, risk and capital management, and/or VA hedging.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills with innate curiosity and attention to details
  • Ability to manage projects and workstreams and provide direction to staff
  • Demonstrated project management, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance, engineering, computer science or another related quantitative field

What will make you stand out: 

  • Experience in Variable Annuity Hedging and/or Valuation knowledge under STAT/GAAP/Economic lenses
  • Experiences in annual Plan process
  • Experience working in Prophet and/or MoSes

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted provides a basis to determine the appropriate offer dependent upon several factors including but not limited to geographic location, experience, skills, education and pay equity. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$168,200.00 - $210,200.00 - $294,300.00
