Position Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and analytically driven Reinsurance Actuary to join our U.S. reinsurance team. This role will lead the management of in-force reinsurance relationships across Resolution Life's U.S. business and provide actuarial and transaction support to the M&A team on new deals. The position will also support the administration of in-force treaties, including settlement reporting, partner communication, and performance monitoring.
This is a highly collaborative role requiring a blend of actuarial insight, commercial acumen, relationship management, and regulatory awareness.
Key Responsibilities:
In-Force Reinsurance Management
- Serve as the relationship manager for in-force U.S. reinsurance partners
- Maintain regular communication with reinsurers to support treaty performance, governance, and strategic alignment
- Identify and implement opportunities to optimize in-force treaty economics or structure through amendments or recapture strategies
Settlement and Reporting
- Oversee the timely and accurate preparation and review of in-force reinsurance settlement reports
- Collaborate with Finance and Operations teams to ensure data integrity, reconciliations, and compliance with treaty terms
- Resolve discrepancies and coordinate with reinsurers to ensure smooth financial and data exchange
M&A and New Transaction Support
- Partner with the M&A team to evaluate and structure reinsurance components of new deals, including co-insurance, YRT, and financial reinsurance
- Assist in pricing, risk analysis, reinsurer engagement, reinsurance agreement drafting, and due diligence for block acquisitions
- Help prepare transaction materials and contribute to presentations for internal and external stakeholders
Market and Regulatory Engagement
- Monitor U.S. reinsurance market trends and competitor activity to inform strategic decisions
- Maintain awareness of relevant U.S. regulatory and accounting developments (e.g., NAIC model updates, statutory reporting changes, risk-based capital treatment) that could affect reinsurance structures or execution
- Support the Head of Reinsurance in interpreting and applying regulatory changes to new and existing treaties
Strategic and Partner Engagement
- Represent Resolution Life US at key reinsurer meetings, industry events, and conferences
- Help shape and execute the U.S. reinsurance strategy in line with broader capital and M&A objectives
Qualifications & Experience:
- ASA or FSA designation preferred; strong actuarial progress with significant relevant experience will also be considered
- 8 years of experience in U.S. life insurance or reinsurance, with a focus on in-force management, pricing, or deal support. Prefer experience working at or closely with a major global reinsurer
- Strong understanding of life and annuity products, reinsurance structures (coinsurance, YRT, modco, financial reinsurance), and settlement processes
- Familiarity with reinsurance accounting and reporting concepts
- Knowledge of U.S. insurance regulatory environment, including statutory accounting, NAIC initiatives, and capital requirements
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The range for the role may differ based on the location.

• New York, NY: $175,000- $200,000
