Director-level P&C catastrophe research role in Chubb's Science Center based in Philadelphia. Lead independent research and integration of catastrophe model improvements (modeled and non-modeled perils) to support Chubb Tempest Reinsurance, underwriting, actuarial, claims and senior management.
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
- Develop Chubb view of catastrophe risk and integrate research into modeling framework
- Validate and develop natural catastrophe risk assessment tools for CTR
- Provide near‑real‑time event response insights to underwriting, claims and senior leadership
- Work with RMS models and build analyses using R or Python, SQL and GIS
- Director role requiring MS/PhD and 5–7 years in catastrophe model validation or development
DOMAIN EXPERTISE
- Natural catastrophe risk assessment tool development
- Catastrophe model validation
- Experience with RMS products
- Advanced probability and statistics
- GIS and spatial analysis
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Ph.D. or Masters in meteorology, engineering, statistics, climate or related field
- 5–7 years in validation or development of natural catastrophe risk assessment tools
- Experience with RMS products
- Advanced knowledge of probability and statistics
- Advanced R or Python, SQL, Excel and GIS skills
