Role Summary

HIGHLIGHTS

Senior actuarial and underwriting leadership role for Supplemental Health Solutions (SHS) based in Oak Brook Terrace, IL. You will lead actuarial strategy, underwriting oversight, product development, reserving, and rate filings across international healthcare, group voluntary indemnity, fixed indemnity, life, and disability. This role reports to the Chief Actuary and supports business growth with BCBS Global Solutions.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Lead actuarial and underwriting strategy for SHS (international healthcare, hospital/accident/critical illness)
Own product development, rating methodology, and state rate filings
Oversee reserving methodologies and financial forecasting for the SHS segment
Manage resources, staffing models, and mentor actuarial/underwriting staff
Based in Oak Brook Terrace, IL; travel ~10–20% for client and partner visits

DOMAIN EXPERTISE

life and disability product experience
state rate filings and actuarial memoranda
reserving methodologies and embedded reserve management

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or Business required
Associate (ASA) or Fellow (FSA) of the Society of Actuaries required
Member of the American Academy of Actuaries required
10+ years of insurance business experience
Experience with international healthcare and supplemental indemnity products
