Position Overview

We are seeking an actuarial analytics engineer to develop health models and scale delivery of analytics using modern software tools. The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of experience as a health actuary and the ability to develop models using programming languages such as python or R.

As part of a highly cross functional, scale-focused team, you will work with software and data engineers, data scientists, actuaries, and business professionals to deliver insights to clients and client teams using modern techniques and data at scale, empowering better decisions for employer health plans.

What a week will look like
  • Develop actuarial models in python, R, or Excel based on multi-client need and data available
  • Prioritize product features and functionalities based on their value, feasibility, and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Design and automate scalable business processes
  • Collaborate with actuaries, data scientists, data engineers, and business colleagues to tell compelling stories using data and analytics that result in better decisions for Aon's clients
  • Stay abreast of industry developments and bring an actuarial perspective to product development processes
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of firm-wide products and technology, and have a thorough understanding of how they create value for clients
  • Connect with clients and client teams on product delivery


Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • 5-8 years of client-facing or related experience in health or benefits, health actuarial and analytics work with a proven track record of innovation and leadership in the health and benefits space
  • Strong technical background in actuarial modeling and statistical methods including familiarity with emerging technologies, data science and machine learning techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, solve complex problems independently, and drive results in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate and overcome obstacles to progress
  • Curiosity, attention to detail, and the ability to think beyond a narrow task to the real need or the next steps
  • ASA or FSA actuarial credentials a plus

Pay Transparency

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $120,000 - $150,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
