Position Summary
The individual in this role will serve as the subject matter expert for Aetna's Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plans (SNP) business. Includes Dual Eligible, HIDE/FIDE Integrated, and Chronic plans.
The SNP population presents a huge growth opportunity for Medicare Advantage plans, and Aetna is aggressively expanding into this market. This position provides an ambitious actuary the opportunity to get into a growth story early, work closely with executive Medicare business leaders to drive strategic decisions, and shape the role in your own manner.
Responsibilities include:
Develop a strong strategic partnership with the business leadership of the Medicare Duals segment, by collaborating on business initiatives, recognizing and anticipating matters that will materially impact financial outcomes, providing sound risk-management advice, and communicating all of the above effectively.
Coordinating the analytics, reporting, and pricing/bidding best practices of Aetna's SNP segment, across all Aetna geographies, Medicare Advantage market actuaries, and associated Medicaid actuaries. Establish best practices, ensure consistency, and provide guidance to the broader Individual Medicare actuarial pricing team.
Leading and developing a team of actuaries responsible for supporting the IVL MA actuarial team, local market partners, and Medicaid partners to provide a best-in-class bid product, with emphasis on compliance with changing regulations and sound risk management recommendations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years of actuarial or related experience
- ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries)
- Proven project management skills including experience in development and management of multiple projects
- Prior people leader experience
- Financial acumen and experience building financial models
- Excellent communication skills (both verbally and through written presentation materials or emails)
- Relationship builder with the ability to partner across segments and functional areas
- Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team environment, as well as independently
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office applications
- Creativity and intellectual curiosity
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Medicare experience
- Previous work with Medicare/Medicaid regulators
- FSA designation

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$144,200.00 - $288,400.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
