HIGHLIGHTS

Manager-level P&C actuarial modeling role focused on homeowners insurance. You will lead a team building loss, demand, and catastrophe models, productionize Python/SQL workflows, and partner with Pricing, Underwriting, Claims and Engineering. Role is hybrid/flexible across Hippo hub locations including San Francisco Bay Area, Austin, Dallas, and Bedminster, NJ.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

  • Lead a team building homeowners loss, demand, and catastrophe models
  • Develop production-ready Python and SQL modeling workflows (Airflow pipelines)
  • Set modeling standards, lifecycle, validation, and monitoring frameworks
  • Partner cross-functionally with Pricing, Underwriting, Claims, Product, and Engineering
  • Hybrid/flexible role across Hippo hub locations (SF Bay Area, Austin, Dallas, Bedminster)

DOMAIN EXPERTISE

  • Personal lines homeowners modeling
  • Loss cost and expected loss modeling
  • Demand, conversion, and retention modeling
  • Catastrophe or weather-driven loss modeling
  • Actuarial principles applied to pricing

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • 7+ years in data science, analytics, or actuarial modeling in personal lines P&C
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field required
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL and experience with Git
  • Strong experience with loss cost modeling and actuarial pricing principles
